Docked assault pod are floating free in the VCR and are shot down by
enemy (fighters & ships).

Pod have no undock order, or drop order, surviving pod are still
docked, pod have been docked for a few turn prior to combat, it also
happen with fresh pod docked (the same turn has a vcr). the bug seem
to not happen with Resupply pod, but might also happen with other pod
type like life pod, but it happen to me every time with assault pod,
and this has been for a long time at least 6 months.

Non-assault pods always appear in combat at least twice per turn.
This hasn't been changed. What has changed is that assault pods will
appear in every combat. The nature of assault pods is to capture
enemy bases (ground assault), ships (vcr combat), or be bombs
(Aczanny). Thus, they need to appear and combat to do their job.
What I think your issue with it is; is that the assault pod in
question may have had mechs or fighters in it that you didn't want
blown up. That would be a good feature request to have assault pods
that only have mechs and/or fighters in them to not appear in combat
when docked.

Yes I had several 1K assault pod, docked to my ships, while I make a
new base via ship transfer, my ships are killing the obital fleet, I
see no reason why docked pod should enter combat ever.
If I want the pod to be in the combat or try to land I order the pod
to undock .

When you wish to use pod for boarding you need several hundred of them
and launch them from a pod pad.

This is news to me (unless you are talking about free-floating/boosted
pods). If I have specifically _docked_ a pod, I most certainly do not
want it to enter combat, ever. I want it to undock wherever it's
ordered to. If there are enemy forces at that point then they should
be able to engage the pod, but not during transit.

Umm, again, if I dock a pod, I'm trying to use it as a transport
mechanism, not to float around in combat. I also tend to use them on
low-crew-ships as a safe-guard against boarding (never really tested
though).
Yes, this means that docked assault pods won't be able to capture
ships during transit. Seeing that I've never witnessed an assault pod
capture a ship in combat (and how easily they are shot down), this is
a price I'm willing to pay.

Cheers,
Michael

I have only seen a pod capture one ship in the years I have playedm so it
does work but very rarely. I have also only seen one ramming in the same
time.
