Fighting Fighters

Hi,

i've made some simulations with the diplomat3.1.2 and the host 213h.

in this simulations i've let a T-Rex Class Battleship fight against
100 - type 2 wings of the solorian unity. In every simulation i've
started the T-Rex will now lose.

T-Rex(Transwarp Drive): 23000 MC and 1600 Minerals
12 Pulsed Phasor Cannons, 3 Sandcaster
10 Pulsed Laser
6 Micro-Missle Launcher

Solorian Wing: 4000 MC and 0 Minerals
100 type 2 wings

Is there something wrong with the equipment of the T-Rex to fight
against a fighter race?
did i use a wrong diplomat version?
Is there any way, for me to win the fight against this small wing?

Thank you

Cas

There are more effective ways than leaving a single flagship alone
against long ranged fighters:

Try out

- strike thru
- a Madonzilla with 5 small wings
- Saurians with 4 SC and TLs entering from different attack vectors

Consider exotics. Consider to make some of your ships more mobile by
using Tyliums and Tokamaks.

Under all circumstances have more then one object in space combat to
disturb the stand off algorithm of the dangerous long ranged fighters.
And throw a lot of SCs against such fighters.

Try T-Rex
W190
Turbo laser
Some SC 1-3 should be enought
Set t-rex to RAM
and anti-fighter, T-Rex should close the wing and kill them with turbo
laser and some SC shot.

Make sure you have latest diplomat

Made some test
You need 2 T-Rex
W190
1SC (14 PPC)
Turbo laser
(10 pulsed laser)
and they win every time.

If you put Tylium thruster they win much faster.

T-Rex are cheap and already travel in pack.

They will do even better with your 3 SC and 12 PPC large weapon load
out.

Now if you have prisoners.
W190
2SC, 1Gathling phasor, 12 PPC
Turbo laser
(10 pulsed laser) Could be any small

Yes. We had increased the fighter speeds by 20%. On T-Rex will killed by the
circuiting wing withou having a chance to come into range of the SCs.

Thank you for your quick answers,

The Idea of two T-Rex sounds nice, and yes they will kill the 4000 mc
Solorian wing.

but they will lose, if i split the wing in 10 small wings ...

Perhaps some other nice ideas ?

Solorian fighter lack of armor. Lizard fighter don't. 10 Lizard
(1/0/9) wings in strike thru should be an option. They should win even
with no support. You can now add a Madonzilla in strike thru with 5
SC, 10 TL, Tyliums and Tokamak (for full mobility), which carries the
wings. The Solorian wings won't be set to close to point blank or
strike thru as they than would lose their range advantage and are in
danger to be shot down quickly due to their low armor. So the Solorian
wings will not operate at full speed but your wings and Madonzilla do.
The wings should chase the Solorian wings into thr arms of the
Madonzilla where they probably will quickly die.

And if we can invest all the money of the earlier 2-T-Rex example then
you can add a towing T-Rex with transwarps to have full tactical
advantage of the 190er speed. Depending on what he adds to the wings
you may consider to let the T-Rex enter in 1st or 2nd wave.

You even may try out the weapon/movement target sharing switches for
the wings so that the Lizard wings fly to same Solorian wing at which
the Madonzilla wants to fire at.

I'm very happy that you brought this example as it shows that the new
combat system if rich enough of inner structure so that it is better
to search for a solution for a problem than complaining that something
is broken.

The first shield, evasive and attack bonus may be a low budget
support, too. THe shield exotic protects your ships. The evasive makes
the ships more mobile and difficulter to hit and the attack bonus
increases the hit odds of the antifighter ship weapons.

I would be interested in the result. :)
