WP + "WPF" + escort not working?

Hi !

I had 6 Raffas, 1 Riza, 6 Sharizas and 2 Shai Shans at a base plus
one further Riza in space 14 Lj nearby. Below the base there was an
evil Bot fleet. All ships where covered by one nova.

Therefore the 6 Raffas and 1 Riza were given a WP1 7lj north from
current location and WP2 7lj back to the base location to meet the
deep space Riza. Also the Raffas and the Rizas were ordered to tow one
of the 6 Sharizas and 2 Shai Shans. The 6 Sharizas and 2 Shai Shans
also had the CC "WPF" and escort orders on different members of the
Bot fleet.

Movement stoped at WP2 (= base where they are at the beginning of the
turn) without continuing with the escort order. Is that normal and
intented?

I would have thought that once WP2 was cleared, the ships would be
free to head on to their escort target.
